centerpieces of this broad-ranging program are a pair of early 20th century
American works by New Englanders Arthur Foote and Walter Piston. A Night
Piece, one of Foote’s most popular works, is beautifully transparent and
wistful. Piston’s challenging Quintet is a much more intellectual work.
The program also includes a delightful late 18th-century flute quartet by Ignaz
