Lensmire will speak from his recent book “White Folks: Race and Identity in Rural America”, which is located in Wisconsin.

White Folks explores the experiences and stories of eight white people from a small farming community in Northern Wisconsin. We will discuss how white people’s understanding of race and their own racial identities are connected to what they believe about people of color. White racial identity is seldom simple and is characterized not just by fear and rejection, but also by attraction, envy, and desire. There is nothing smooth about the souls of white folks.”

Reading & public talk Wednesday, March 14th, 5-6:30pm. Winther 2001.  Books available for purchase at cost (about $24) and to sign.
